Please be in prayer for us as we have to make some big decisions on what system is best for our monthly finances and for Arwen's overall care. We are in limbo and may learn both and wait to make the decision when we are there. We have also decided to get a second opinion from their ortho and bracing team. Arwen can obviously walk without bracing assistance but she needs them for positional and protectional purposes. So far we have not found bracing that helps with her gait, ankle protection, and inward rotation all at the same time. Her current ones help with foot position and gait but she still has a problem with ankle protection and rotation due to tibial torsion and tight hip issues. We've tried the derotation straps, stretching, therapy, and theratogs which have helped some but not practical on a daily basis. We are looking into possible Botox shots to loosen her hips without having to look into surgery for now since her hips are in perfect alignment.
That is a lot of information and medical confusion for most of you I am sure, but thanks for taking the time to learn more about Arwen's life with Spina Bifida. I am quite overwhelemed trying to pull this all together, but God is faithful and is renewing me through each step of the way. I am blessed beyond belief to be her mother and give God all the glory for her disability whether we're in a valley or dancing on a Spina Bifida mountain top.
